Lucinda Fredericks came all the way from Australia at her own expense to set a record by winning her third major Three-Day Event. She'd already won Badminton and Burghley on her seasoned mare Headley Britannia so now it as time for Rolex to witness her brilliance. In fact by winning Rolex Lucinda became the first rider to win the three major Three-Day events on the same horse. "Brit is one in a million," said Lucinda with a grin from ear to ear. "She's proven to be the best in teh world." Lucinda started out slightly behind Germany's Bettina Hoy after dressage but was able to pull head in cross country when Bettina and Ringwood Cockatoo added time faults to their score. In third all the way to the end was Buck Davidson on My Boy Bobby. Everyone was on the edge of their seats for the final show jumping phase but when each of the three riders produced clear rounds the victory and smiles went to Lucinda. Her husband and Silver medal teammate Clayton was there to cheer her on and join in the victory celebration. The class has just finished and so I'll be giving more details later but just wanted to spread the news as quickly as possible.
