A meeting of vocational fate took place during Cavallo President and hoof boot
designer Carole Herder’s recent visit to Monty Robert's Flag Is Up Farms.
“Every time I visit Monty's California ranch, I learn something fascinating about
horses and am fortunate to meet captivating people who frequent the ranch,”
enthuses Carole.
On this recent trip Carole was thrilled to engage in hoof talk with Ada Gates, the
first woman farrier ever licensed to shoe racehorses in the USA and Canada. Ada
is no stranger to television, counting guest spots on David Letterman, What’s My
Line and The Tonight Show among her appearances. She has also been invited
to serve on the Farrier Committee for Alltech FEI World Games to be held in
Lexington, Kentucky in 2010.
Ada's knowledge of the geography of the hoof matches any expert cartographer's world view. She happily shares her expertise through her trimming practice, made easier by the ruler gauge she personally designed.
